Custom Drill Design
Custom Visual Design Tailored to Your Band’s Size, Sound, and Schedule
Every ensemble is unique. Whether you field 30 performers or 150+, your custom production is built around your specific instrumentation, rehearsal schedule, and student skill levels, delivering clear, high-impact staging that cleans quickly and projects effortlessly on the field.
What Makes MY Visual Design Different:
Music Ensemble-First Staging: Visual design should serve the music, not fight it. By placing primary voices in optimal spots on the field and structuring visual phrasing around musical phrasing, my drill reinforces the musical ideas rather than hindering them. Visual focal points, battery placement, and soloist field locations are calculated to support timing integrity across the field, ensuring your students look great without ever sacrificing musical confidence or clarity.
Educator-Driven Logic: As a current marching arts educator, I’m able to be on the field frequently with today’s students. I get the opportunity to see exactly what is—and what is not—resonating with students. Every set I write is built with one question in mind: "Would I want to teach this to my own students?"
Grid Based Design: Forms are engineered around standard 8-to-5 step logic and lean heavily on field markings, including yard line inserts, numbers, and all available hash marks. By giving performers clear, reliable spatial reference points on every chart, students can self-correct during rehearsal and clean sets faster, while having consistent resources while performing.
Tailored Instrumentation: Every page is written for your exact instrumentation. You will never receive "stock" charts designed for an ideal band, every page is customized for your specific ensemble. Need an alternate block? I’ll build one for you at no extra charge!

Program Coordination
Cohesive Show Concepts Built for Audiences & Judges
A great visual design starts with a clear, well-structured show concept. Our program coordination services help you take your show from a rough idea on a whiteboard to a fully realized, judge-friendly production that your students love performing.
What Makes MY Program Coordination Different:
Unique Concepts Tailored to YOUR Program: Every concept is built specifically for your ensemble. Your program and community are unique, and your show should be too. I aim to build a distinct visual and thematic identity for your band. Whether you already have an idea you want to explore or need fresh options to choose from, I’ll craft a concept that fits your students perfectly.
On-Time Design Management: As your program coordinator, part of my job is keeping your entire design team on schedule. Gone are the days of chasing down arrangers or visual designers to get materials into your inbox. I manage the production calendar so you can focus on teaching.
In-Season Video Feedback: My work doesn't end when the drill is delivered. I support your program all the way through your final performance. Send over rehearsal or contest videos throughout the season, and I’ll provide detailed feedback and actionable adjustments to help you maximize your score on the judge sheets.
Every Program Coordination Package Includes:
Concept & Storyboarding: Complete storyboards, thematic narrative breakdowns, and effect mapping across all movements.
Music Selection & Pacing Guidance: Collaboration on piece selection, source material licensing guidance, and count-structure planning.
Visual Design & Prop Integration: Detailed design plans for flags, uniforms, props, and field setup.
On-Time Delivery & Flexible Contingencies
I protect your rehearsal calendar with hard turnaround guarantees and transparent, predictable policies.
On-Time Delivery Guarantee
Target Date Locking: Upon signing your contract, you submit your target delivery dates for each movement via an automated onboarding form.
14-Day Material Window: Deliveries are guaranteed on your target dates provided complete intake materials (audio, scores, and production notes) are submitted at least 14 days in advance.
Priority Intake: Show materials received inside the 14-day window enter production immediately and are delivered as close to your target date as possible, ensuring your students are never left waiting on the field.
Roster & Instrumentation Changes
Roster drops or additions during band camp are a natural part of high school band.
Minor Shifts: Performer additions or drops are seamlessly absorbed starting at the beginning of the next unwritten movement at no extra cost.
Substantial Rewrites: If previously completed drill requires a structural redesign due to roster shifts, changes are billed using a simple, transparent formula:
Fee = (% of show rewritten (by movement)) × 20% × (Total Show Cost)
(Example: Rewriting 1 movement of 4 of a completed $5,000 drill package costs just $250)
What Drives Your Quote?
How My Pricing Works: I don't use cookie-cutter rates because you shouldn't pay for design you don't need. Your custom proposal is built transparently around four factors:
Performer Count/Classification: Simply put, more performers on the field require more design hours. Writing custom drill for a 40-piece band involves very different spatial formulas than writing for a 120-piece ensemble with full guard and battery sections. By factoring performer count directly into your proposal, I keep pricing completely transparent: small programs pay less, and larger bands get the detailed charting and complex visual velocity required for big-screen field coverage.
Classification and Competitive Goals: Show complexity is tailored to your program's specific competitive goals. A local festival show focused on clean, rapid execution requires a different design scope than a BOA Regional or Grand National finalist production with multi-layered visual velocity and intricate prop integration. Pricing adjusts based on the level of visual detail required for your target judges' sheets.
Design Scope: Your proposal reflects the specific level of involvement your program needs for the season. If you already have a complete show concept, music arrangement, and timeline in place, a Standalone Drill Package provides pure visual staging tailored to your audio. If you want comprehensive creative oversight, including show concept development, music selection, design team delivery management, and in-season video analysis, adding Program Coordination expands the service scope to give your staff end-to-end support from napkin sketch to finals night.
